In 1983, Angus Brown Safaris became one of the first Safari companies in South Africa to specialize in bowhunting, and we made a name for ourselves in the days when no one else had the knowledge of how to conduct highly successful bowhunts. As passionate bowhunters ourselves, we have an excellent understanding of the special conditions that are required for bowhunting. Blinds are strategically placed to maximize the opportunity for a close, broadside shot. They are spacious, and quiet, and are set up to accomodate hunters who enjoys filming their own hunts, or those who prefer to bring an observer or videographer. We also have tree stands, and pop-up blinds which can be set up to meet the client's individual preferences.
We will be waiting for you at the Johannesburg International Airport when you clear custons, and will quickly get you and your luggage on the road to our base camp in the Free State. about a 3 hour trip to the Southeast. Upon arrival, you'll have plenty time to settle in, unwind, and get a good nights rest. The next morning, you can shoot a view arrows at the archery target that is available at all times. After breakfast, we take you out to the blind that we feel will give you the best chance to harvest the trophies you are looking for. In addition to your gear, you will take along a packed lunch, sodas, snacks, etc. as well as a 2-way radio, and will settle in to see which of your trophies will present you with a shot opportunity.
Once you have shot your animal, you call us on the radio, and we will arrive within a few minutes to help you track and recover your trophy. After photo opportunities, your animal is taken to the skinning shed where our skinners will prepare it for mounting according to your instructions. You can then continue to hunt for the remainder of the day.
You will be fetched from your blind just after last shooting light, and after a good hot shower, a few stories around the fire, and a great meal, you will be ready to recharge your batteries for the next day's hunting with a good nights sleep.
At the conclusion of your hunt we will take you to meet the taxidermist who will handle your trophies. You can either have him mount and ship them to you, or you can have them treated and shipped to your taxidermist for mounting . After that we see you safely to the airport for your flight home.
